Yauco Selecto Coffee |
Yauco Selecto coffee is grown at the highest points in the Southwestern mountains of the U.S. commonwealth of Puerto Rico at elevations over 3,000 feet. The clay based Alonso and Malaya Arcilloso nutrient rich soil coupled with over 100 inches of annual rainfall nurture and give the coffee its truly unique personality and reputation.
Coffee was first introduced to Puerto Rico in 1736 by Spanish immigrants who settled the island. Coffee production only boomed in the latter part of the 18th century though as residents from the French Mediterranean island of Corsica settled the high mountain farms and developed a reputation for coffee production excellence.
Just like Hawaiian Kona, Puerto Rico's coffee production reflects U.S. Government standards with a focus on environmental policies.
Yauco Selecto is a rich, mellow and full bodied coffee with a unique creamy buttery flavor with hints of malty chocolate undertones and a distinctive floral aroma.
Yauco Selecto coffee production is limited to approximately 3000 bags per year and is available for only $13.95 per lb. or buy in in 5 lb bags for an additional 10% discount!
